Seven Mile Beach at the Marriott Resort Grand Cayman, around 12:45pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2000.The Marriott beach was considerably narrowed (above) by a fall 1999 storm, but is now non-existant.
Since early October 2000, access to the beach at the rear of the hotel is cordoned off. With several feet of
sand washed away, the concrete staircases are hanging in the air! These two lower photos were taken
around 2:00pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2000. The Mariott is at the southern end of SMB. |

The SMB public beach, a little further north than the Westin, was almost completely deserted around 1:00pm
on Wednesday, July 5, 2000. Of course, there were scattered showers all morning, but the beach here is
rarely crowded during the week. There are washrooms and sheltered picnic tables. |
