Finding your way from Owen Roberts International Airport in George Town, to Turtle Nest Inn in Bodden Town, is easy! Grand Cayman is a relatively small island, there's basically one main road from one end of the island to the other, and Turtle Nest Inn is situated on the main road, about ten miles east from the airport (and George Town). There's only one exit road from the airport and rental car plaza, which ends after about one mile at a stop sign. At the stop sign, just beside the post office, turn left, and continue past Foster's Food Fair (on your right) until the "give way" sign. After the sign, keep to the left and follow the road which curves left around the end of the runway. You're now on the main road (the A2, which means nothing since it's not posted anywhere) heading east towards Bodden Town, East End, Northside, and Rum Point. Along the way, the road leads through several villages, including Prospect, Spotts, Savannah, Lower Valley, and Pedro. Don't confuse the sign for the district of Bodden Town with the town itself which is further along the main road. After Pedro, and shortly after the first sign lowering the posted speed limit to 25mph (all speed signs are in mph!), you'll enter the village of Bodden Town, and the road curves sharply to the left. Just after the curve, there's an Esso station on your right (seaside), followed a little further by a Texaco station, and then, around 200 feet further, Turtle Nest Inn. It's a two-storey, white, Spanish-style building with two illuminated signs at the road -- if you see a post office on your left, or a church on your right, you've gone too far! We suggest that you print a copy of this page, and take it along on your trip. And, just in case, you can reach us (locally) for help at 947.8665. The drive in from the airport may be a good time to shop for groceries, and the Foster's you first pass is only one of three supermarkets (see green stars, above) directly on your route to the Inn. About 1.5 miles past that first Foster's (on the left at a round-about), you'll see Hurley's Marketplace, in the Grand Harbour Shopping Centre, surrounded by numerous palms and attractive landscaping. But, we'd probably suggest the new Foster's Food Fair in Newlands/Lower Valley, the third you'll pass and the one closest to your destination. But, please note that all supermarkets on Grand Cayman are closed on Sunday, leaving only a few convenience stores accessible including one in Bodden Town itself at the small Texaco service station just two properties before the Inn. The supermarkets are all open from 7:00am till 10:00pm, six days a week. But, there are convenience stores around the island that are generally open from 6:00am to 10:00pm, seven days a week. |
